Venue: In-house training room
Participants: 22
A training session was held on Saturday, March 13, 2010, in the training room at サン介護センター.
We welcomed instructor Kazue Ishii from Sanko Welfare College, with 22 home helpers attending. The session offered new insights and opportunities to exchange ideas, making it a rewarding learning experience.
When assisting with dressing, the basic principle is to undress the unaffected side first and dress the affected side first. We encourage service users to use their unaffected abilities as much as possible, supporting their independence through verbal guidance.
Home helpers usually provide care on their own, so they sometimes wonder, “Am I doing this correctly?”
The training gave participants an opportunity to reflect on their own practice.

In transfer assistance, we revisited the importance of verbal guidance and the use of body mechanics to protect caregivers from problems such as lower back pain, including when assisting someone with one-sided paralysis or someone who needs full assistance. Participants also shared current challenges in their care work and discussed them together.
